Just two weeks after cancelling the rest of his tour because a fall, Ace Frehley has died from a brain bleed due to that fall. This was despite the original announcement that he only suffered “minor” damage from the fall. The family of the co-founder of Kiss, the band whose makeup on stage became a sensation, made the following statement:

“We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth,” the statement read. “We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”

Paul “Ace” Frehley, was born in the Bronx. When the group came up with the idea of wearing makeup and costumes, he became “Spaceman”. His tenure with Kiss lasted from the founding in 1973 through his departure in 1983. On a couple of occasions, he did came back to do some reunion concerts.
