After battling heath issues for a few years, Dave Mason has lost the battle. His death was announced on April 22, but he apparently died on April 19 at his home in Gardnerville, Nevada less than a month before his 80th birthday.

Mason first gained fame as a co-founder of the British band Traffic that first recorded in 1967. For Traffic he wrote “Feelin’ Alright” that was later covered by Joe Cocker.

After Traffic, Dave had a very successful solo career and recorded with many artists including George Harrison, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and Wings, Michael Jackson, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Steve Winwood, Fleetwood Mac, Delaney & Bonnie, Leon Russell, and Cass Elliot.
